Residential Services and Support
McIntosh Trail Community Service Board (CSB) offers a variety of residential services and supports to individuals who are enrolled in the agency’s outpatient treatment programs. Residential needs are reviewed during the initial behavioral health assessment for individuals entering services and referrals are made internally by McIntosh Trail staff to the Residential Program for further assessment. Individuals already enrolled in treatment services from McIntosh Trail CSB may request a referral for residential services from their treatment provider if this need arises during the course of their treatment. McIntosh Trail CSB provides a continuum of residential treatment services that includes intensive, semi-independent, and independent. A brief description of the three levels of residential care is provided below.
Intensive Residential Services is provided to those individuals who have a primary diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders that are experiencing significant difficulty managing symptoms of their illness; and as a result, they have likely experienced multiple hospitalizations. Intensive Residential Services provides temporary housing to those individuals with an intensive need for personal supports and skills training to restore, develop, or maintain skills in functional areas in order to live meaningful lives in the community; develop or maintain social relationships, and participate in social, interpersonal, vocational, recreational or community activities. Intensive Residential Services is staffed 24 hours per day by House Managers and Para-professionals.
Intensive Residential Services are also provided to individuals who have been diagnosed with a primary addictive disease disorder who are in need of a safe, stable, drug free residence for up to 30 days who are discharged from a Crisis Stabilization Unit without a safe and sober home environment to return.
Semi-Independent Residential Services is provided to those individuals who have a primary diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorder who will benefit from a moderate level of personal support and skill training. Semi-Independent Residential Services provides on-site programming for individuals within a residential setting to assist them to successfully maintain stable housing, continue with their recovery, and increase self-sufficiency. Semi-Residential Services are staffed by a Residential House Manager and Para-Professionals who are on site a minimum of 36 hours per week and who are available for support 24 hours per day.
Independent Residential Services provides scheduled residential services to individuals who require a low level of residential structure to maintain stable housing, continue with their recovery, and increase self-sufficiency. This residential placement will be of the individual’s choice and may be fully integrated in the community in a scattered site individual residence.
In addition to receiving any of these residential services, individuals should be linked to adult mental health and/or addictive disease services, as applicable, including Core or private psychiatrist or Specialty services.
